Observations continue... (now in Europe)
Hello there!! Long time, no posts but eventually, I had time to write one tonight and again wanted to share my observations here in Warsaw. Here is some of them; I used to know that only us, I mean muslim people use beads for counting prayers but once I was in the bus and saw beads in one old Polish lady`s hands and I got really surprised. I don`t know if the most of the Polish students know what "study" means but they use the word "learn" instead of "study". For ex., instead of "I`m studying English", they prefer to say "I`m learning English". I respect that choise, tough :) I have a request from English Teachers in Poland. Could you please teach how to pronounce "DOLLAR" in English to your students? However, I`m not sure if it works because even one of our lecturer at our university pronounces "DOLLAR" wrong :) I don`t understand some Polish girls. Actually, I`m trying to understand but I fail all the time :) How can they wear miniskirt in that freezing cold weather? They prefer their nice appearances to their health. The most common reaction of Polish people to a sentence is " AHA " means " I see or also Ok" in English . In fact, almost everyday I use that word at least 15 times :) Am I addicted? As you read, I`ve mentioned mostly the language issues because I`m learning Polish at school and I like to compare how people speak Polish and English. That`s really fun! By the way, an advice about the language here is that don`t believe your Polish friends who tell you that many Polish people especially the youth know English :( I was in a supermarket and asked 6 people to help me but none of them knew English. Finally, I wanted to share some photos that I took of the city which is devoid of English, Warsaw- beautiful tough- :)

you said You were suprised when You've seen women with beads...
the same as me when i found beads in Turkish mosque!! i was shocked because i thought that it's only catholic prop... and You have this beads. It looks almost the same like our catholic stuff- rosary for praying.
:)
Polish people know english because most of them have this language in school... but we don't have practice...we don't use english, thats why people don't want help You. They are affraid about their level in language skills...
its our polish psyche :)
i lived abroad one year.... and still if someone asking me " do You speak english" i always answer "just a little bit" ;) and i don't want talk :)
I liked your comment and thank you for that but couldn't recognize you from your comment :(

Thanks in advance for your helps :)
wow, vedat, i'm glad you're learning so much and having a great time. i love reading your insights about other cultures. i hope you continue having a great time!
about the studying vs. learning... most turks use this wrong, so i find your comment interesting :) i dont think you probably do, but students at the prep school are learning english. they always try to substitute calismak with working english, or studying english, but it doesnt't always work. maybe your polish friends are actually using it correctly :)

Thank you, Laura for your nice comment. Actually, I really enjoy writing about my observations on a new place and new people. :)
Keep reading for some new surprises!
it looks like you are learning a lot while you are there. i think you are so lucky that you have been able to live in different countries, i wish i could have this chance some day. i'm excited to hear about what else you see in Poland :) take care friend

"I don`t understand some Polish girls. Actually, I`m trying to understand but I fail all the time :) How can they wear miniskirt in that freezing cold weather? They prefer their nice appearances to their health."
Good news;): i am polish, but also have problems with understanding them! :P This is one of the biggest misteries of Poland. :P
About language: i agree with our "anonymus". Many young ppl know english quite good to communicate, but they're afraid of making errors while speaking. I was one of them, so i know the problem. :P
But older ppl don't know english, yeah. With them i advice to use russian or german. :D
Today i learnt ab your blog (also ab. Ersin's), and i find it extremly interesting to read about us (proud polish ppl:P) from foreginer's point of view.
And since i am interested in TR - it'e even more funny to read. Keep going!
Best regards.
PolishKiz, thank you for your comment :) May i get more details about you such as ur blog or your e-mail and of course your name? :)
Thanks again,
Vedat
:)
I don't have any blog.
Just tell me the reasons - why u want to know more details, m? :)
Then i can be less mysterious. ;)
And write some new post. I AM WAITING HERE!;)
:) Why do you have to be mysterious? That`d be better if I know who you are, at least your name but whatever. I`ll write a new post in a few days for my mysterious friend :)
So, should I call you, PolishKiz? souns really weird. ;)
Bye,
Vedat
Yeah, for now u can call me PolishKiz or however you want. :)
Still didn't write brack for: "Just tell me the reasons - why u want to know more details, m? :)"
Regards and waiting for news;)
Look PolishKiz ! :)
That`s very normal to know more details about one of my blog followers that`s why I thought that I have right to know more about you. Is this explanation enough? :)
